We do not only provide free legal services to our clients but we advise them on the dangers and risks of doing drugs and the legal consequences. Depending on the circumstance, we can also connect them with other NGOs that will provide better care, in the form of treatment, rehabilitation and re-integration into the society.

LARDI Abuja represented by Funmi Bamigboye demonstrated how far we go sometimes in ensuring we provide the necessary help needed by our client to prevent them from going back to drug use/abuse. In FHC/ABJ/CR/74/2022, the Defendant was charged with the offence of aiding and abetting in delivering of two (2) grams of cocaine. He pleaded guilty and after allocutus, he was convicted and sentenced to 14 months imprisonment starting from the day of arrest. He was allowed to go home same day but not after being counselled on the dangers of dealing in drugs. His Counsel went further to help him financially; she gave him some money to start a barbing salon business. If he has a means of livelihood, there will hopefully be no reason to deal in drugs.

We hope to do more for our indigents clients and partner with other agencies who are working to see that drug use is decriminalized and treated as a medical condition instead.
